Veg Broken wheat upma( daliya)

A healthy veg broken wheat upma(daliya) made from broken wheat with lots of veggies like peas, onion, carrot, capsicum ,cauliflower etc and added spices to give it a taste.

  • Ingredients:

  • 1 cup broken wheat (dalia)

  • 2.5 cups water

  • 2 tablespoons oil

  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds                                                             

  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

  • 1-2 green chillies

  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 3-4 curry leaves

  • 1/2 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, beans, etc.)

  • 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves

  • Salt, to taste

Instructions:

1. Wash and soak the broken wheat in water for 10 minutes or u can just dry roast the broken wheat for 10 mins.

2. Heat the oil in a pan. Add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, green chillies and turmeric powder.

3. Once the spices start to crackle, add the onion, saute till the onion is translucent.

4. Add the mixed vegetables and curry leaves. Saute for a few minutes.

5. Add the soaked/roasted broken wheat, salt to taste and water. Mix well and bring to a boil. Adjust the consistency and serve hot.
