Stuffed Moong Lentil Pancake

This is made up of green moong dal with green coconut chutney spread & stuffed with paneer. It is complete meal rich in nutrients , protein and fibre.

Here is a recipe for stuffed moong lentil pancake:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup green moong dal

  • 1 medium green chili

  • 1/2 inch ginger, grated

  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds

  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil for cooking

  • For spread-

  • 2 medium green chilli

  • 7-8 garlic

  • 1 /2 cup fresh diced/grated coconut

  • 1 tbsp roasted chana dal

  • 1 cup coriander leaves

  • salt to taste

  • Oil for cooking

    For stuffing:

  • 1/2 cup paneer, crumbled

  • 1/4 cup grated carrot

  • 1/4 tsp garam masala

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper powder

  • salt to taste

    Instructions:

  1. Soak the split moong dal in water for 2-3 hours. Drain the water and grind the dal with 1 green chilli, ginger and salt to a smooth batter using a blender.

  2. Add cumin seeds, red chili powder and salt to the batter. Mix well and keep aside.

  3. To make the stuffing, mix crumbled paneer, grated carrot, black pepper powder, salt, garam masala in a bowl.

  4. Add 2 medium green chilli, grated coconut, garlic, coriander leaves, roasted chana dal , salt and water in a blender.

  5. Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Once hot, pour a ladle full of the batter onto the pan and spread it in a circular motion to make a thin chilla.

  6. Add a spoonful of spread over it and spread it and then keep the stuffing mixture onto the center of the chilla.

  7. Fold the edges of the chilla towards the center to cover the stuffing.

  8. Drizzle some oil around the edges and on top of the chilla. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottom of the chilla turns golden brown.

  9. Flip the chilla and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the other side turns golden brown. And cut it into pieces

  10. Serve hot with mint chutney or ketchup.
